BASILICATE

Volcanic soil, wines with character

Basilicata is a wine treasure trove waiting to be discovered, dominated by the slopes of Mount Vulture, an extinct volcano that has shaped mineral-rich lava soils. This unique terroir gives Lucanian wines depth, structure and extraordinary minerality. The climate, characterized by significant temperature variations between day and night, contributes to creating wines of great aromatic complexity and freshness.

Aglianico del Vulture: the undisputed king

Aglianico del Vulture represents the region's wine excellence, a wine that expresses power and nobility. This ancient grape variety finds its maximum expression in volcanic soils, producing reds with extraordinary structure, pronounced tannins, and great aging potential. The best labels offer a fascinating bouquet of ripe red fruits, spices, tobacco, and balsamic notes, confirming Aglianico's reputation as the “Barolo of the South.”

Tradition and innovation in the bottle

In addition to Aglianico, Basilicata is rediscovering native grape varieties such as Malvasia Nera, Primitivo, and interesting white grape varieties. Historic wineries and young producers are investing in quality, enhancing an ancient wine-growing heritage with modern techniques. This Lucanian wine renaissance offers authentic wines with character, a genuine expression of a still unspoiled land, where viticulture represents an important cultural tradition handed down through generations.
